Mount Isa

In 1939, the electricity supply for Mount Isa was the responsibility of the Mount Isa Electric Authority, which generated electricity as well as buying in bulk at 3,300 volts from Mount Isa Mines Ltd.

The plant in the powerhouse was of the heavy-oil engine-driven type with a capacity of 186 kva. The distribution system was 415/240 volts, 50 cycle, three-phase a.c.

There were 190 consumers in 1939/40 out of a population in the supply area of 1,500.

The consulting engineer was Mr A.E. Axon of Brisbane.
