This is a compact exhibition, which concentrates on the development of radio technology in Australia. Sub-themes explore the design of the radio housing to attract the domestic market, the use of the radio in the home and some of the popular broadcasts.

Generally, the exhibition panels are shown alongside relevant historical objects. These are usually located in the collections of the host venue. However, when this is not possible, QEM are generally able to add some objects to the exhibition for the duration of the hire period. QEM encourage hosts to attract local groups that are connected with community radio, theatre, dance and drama to visit the exhibition and share some of their own related memories and experiences. The interactive sessions can enrich the impact of the exhibition and have the potential to enhance and extend the local history of the host community.

This exhibition is available to tour. For more information contact Dr Jan King, Director, Queensland Energy Museum.
